In his role as CEO, Ted is responsible for creating, communicating, and implementing the organization's vision, mission, and overall strategic direction. He, along with other members of the executive team, is responsible for formulating and implementing the strategic plan that guides the direction of SmartHome Ventures and its future product offerings.
Prior to joining SmartHome Ventures, Ted was the CEO at FirstMedia, the largest cable operator in Indonesia. Prior to FirstMedia, Ted held both EVP and SVP roles at Charter Communications. Ted has extensive marketing experience, having held the Chief Marketing Officer position at Charter Communications.
Ted holds a M.B.A. from Penn State University and a B.A. in Economics and Business from The University of Pittsburgh.
In his role as Chief Marketing Officer, John leads all aspects of digital, social and traditional marketing plans for SmartHome Ventures.
John has more than 15 years of experience leading marketing campaigns for nationally-recognized brands such as T-Mobile, The Hartford, Dish Network, and Target.
Prior to SmartHome Ventures, John was an SVP at FleishmanHillard leading branding and content strategy for Monsanto. His passion for brand building was forged as a creative director at some of the nation’s leading advertising agencies. Before joining FleishmanHillard, John directed all brand marketing for Charter Communications.
John holds an M.B.A from the Olin Business School at Washington University.
Mary Marzullo, Vice President of Sales Operations, is responsible for overseeing both the launch and on-going account management of retail distribution partners as well as identifying new national partners to further grow the business.
Prior to Smart Home Ventures, Mary held a number of positions at Sprint, including Director of Channel Management, Director of National Retail, Director of Sales Operations and Finance Manager. During her most recent tenure at Sprint she re-launched the Virgin Mobile brand in national retail and local 3rd party distribution, which lead to over 200% increase in doors. In addition, she was instrumental in developing new retailer compensation models that allowed for the explosive growth of smartphones into the prepaid category.
Marzullo holds a degree in Accounting from Indiana University in Bloomington as well as a M.B.A. from J. Mack Robinson College of Business.
As COO, David oversees all business operations, including infrastructure, support and distribution.
Prior to SmartHome Ventures, David held executive management roles at Leap Wireless where he drove strategy, business development, and sales through national retailers, as well as managed Leap’s strategic relationship with Sprint.
David has held a variety of executive management positions at Sprint in the sales, business development and finance arenas. During his tenure at Sprint, he reshaped Sprint’s approach to national retail distribution as well as started Sprint’s wireless wholesale program and was on the board of Virgin Mobile USA. He is also one of the founding members of the Sprint PCS joint venture.
David holds degrees from North Carolina State University and Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
As Vice President of Product & Strategy, Steve oversees and directs the company’s product development initiatives, as well as the infrastructure development necessary for the company to scale nationally.
Prior to SmartHome Ventures, Steve founded Bosch Consulting Group, where he provided guidance and tactics for businesses to grow and transform their organizations. In addition, Steve has over eight years experience with Best Buy, heading up strategy and business development for a diverse set of businesses within the company, including Best Buy’s multi-billion dollar Home Customer Solutions Group.
Mark is a renowned designer with over 25 years of experience in design innovation, producing groundbreaking work for some of the world’s largest and most innovative companies.
Prior to SmartHome Ventures, Mark was the Chief Creative Officer of the product design firm, frogdesign. Joining in 1994, Mark co-founded the software design group, quickly establishing it as the largest part of frog's business and major force in its growth. Since then, he has guided the transformation of frog into one of the largest and most respected strategic design organizations in the world.
Mark was an early pioneer of software user experience, working with clients to leverage emerging technologies, as well as setting the tone for user interface design and mobile platforms. His client roster features Fortune 500 clients, including Disney, Ford, GE, HP, Microsoft and AT&T.
As SmartHome Ventures CFO, Matt oversees and directs the company’s growth and partnership opportunities, as well as holding a strategic planning role in operations and finance.
Prior to SmartHome Ventures, Matt has held multiple business development roles, including Google Commerce, where he developed and launched the Google Wallet Loyalty API partner ecosystem, and Zave Networks, where he successfully completed the acquisition transaction of Zave to Google. Matt also has experience in positions within Sprint, ranging from mergers & acquisitions to strategic partnerships and finance.
Matt holds a degree in Finance & Economics as well as a M.B.A. in Management and Finance, both from Rockhurst University.
